December 2006: Christmas review!
As usual at Christmas, the band was very busy with a number of seasonal engagements. This year, our carolling engagements included an evening at the Oracle Centre in Reading, where we helped raise money for the Duchess of Kent House Trust. The Trust is a charitable organisation that raises money for the Duchess of Kent House hospice, which, in turn, provides specialist palliative care for the area - see their website at http://www.dokht.org.uk/ for more information.
Over the whole week beginning 11th December, they raised over £8,000 through various activities and collecting in the Oracle Centre. The band were very pleased to be part of this effort. An action shot of the players who took part in the band’s Thursday night performance can be found below!

On 14th May, 2005, Reading Spring Gardens Brass Band were the first band to play in the newly renovated Forbury Gardens, marking the opening of the park to the public. Band member Pauline said of the ceremony:
“It was a historical occasion for the people of Reading. I have never witnessed so many people queueing to get into the park.”
